7-year-old from Lexington identified in apparent drowning incident at Paradise Cove

UPDATE 3: The City of Richmond says the little boy is identified as Santino Matreal Yancey-Hardwick, of Lexington.
There are no further updates on the investigation.

UPDATE 2: The Madison County Coroner confirmed to ABC 36 News Now that the 7-year-old, who passed away Monday at Paradise Cove in Richmond, was a possible drowning victim.
Also, the coroner tells us an autopsy is being performed at this time (Tuesday, 7/01 8:15 am) to determine the exact cause of death.
In the meantime, police and pool management continue to investigate what led up to the death of the child.

UPDATE: The City of Richmond confirms that the child involved in the incident at Paradise Cove passed away at the hospital.
The city says the police department is working with pool management, gathering information and investigating the tragedy.
According to the city, the pool will remain closed for an “undetermined” amount of time.

RICHMOND, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) City officials say a minor was involved in an ‘incident’ Monday at Paradise Cove pool in Richmond.

According to a statement from the city, lifeguards from the pool’s management company responded and emergency medical services were called to the scene. No further details about the child’s condition have been released.

The pool has been closed while the situation is assessed. The city says more information will be shared as it becomes available.
