5 in court for double-murder in Frankfort
FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ) — Five suspects charged in a June double-murder made their pleas in court Monday morning via monitor arraignment.
Morgan Crutchfield, 23, Juanita Durrum, 25, Bricelyn Leake, 18, Rakeithieus Wesley, 28, and Leroy Love, 24, all pleaded not guilty to charges of murder and robbery.
The five are accused of killing 22-year-old Jared Moore and 24-year-old Dustin Johnson.
The two men were found shot in a home on Alexander Street in Frankfort.
Police say they believe the two men were shot during a robbery.
“We do believe based on some statements and some other information that we have that there’s going to be some other pending charges that will come out of this group,” Frankfort Police Chief Travis Ellis said. “On individuals that seem to have been terrorizing Frankfort. Some robberies here in the city and in the county.”
Wesley now has an additional robbery charge for a different incident.
In court, Love didn’t know why he was even there.
“I don’t even really know what I’ve been charged with,” Love told the judge.
He says he lives in Wisconsin and was only visiting his girlfriend for a month.
Leake told the judge he lives in Chicago and was visiting Lawrenceburg.
Each suspect’s bond was set at $500,000 full cash.
Next court date for the five will be July 17th at 1 p.m.
