35 year sentence for Morehead man convicted in child sex case

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A Morehead man has been sentenced to 35 years in federal prison for video recording himself engaged in sexually explicit conduct with a minor, under the age of 12 years old.

On Monday, a U.S. District Judge sentenced 44-year-old Steven Michael Rose. Under federal law, Rose must serve at least 85 percent of his prison sentence. Upon his release, he will then be under the supervision of the U.S. Probation Office for 15 years.

At his guilty plea, in April of this year, Rose admitted that he coerced the minor to engage in sexually conduct with him and he made a video of the encounter on his cell phone.
