3 sent to hospital after serious crash on US 25

LILY, Ky. (WTVQ) – Three people were sent to hospitals after a 3-vehicle crash in Laurel County on US 25 Tuesday morning.

The Laurel County Sheriff says that deputies were called to an area on US 25 about 7 miles south of London near Lily, at about 8:20 a.m.

Investigators say that a white-colored Jeep Wrangler was traveling southbound when a maroon Pontiac Grand Prix made a sudden stop, due to another vehicle making a left-hand turn.  Deputies say the Wrangler wasn’t able to stop in time, collided with the Grand Prix, and then went into the oncoming lane and hit a red GMC Sierra head-on.

The driver of the Jeep Wrangler, 23-year-old Justin Adams, was injured in the crash and taken to the St. Joseph Hospital London for treatment. The driver of the Sierra, 44-year-old Champion Richmond, was flown to UK Med Hospital.  A passenger in the Sierra, 54-year-old James Wells, was sent to St. Joseph Hospital London, and then later flown to UK Med Center.  Both Richmond and Wells had to be cut out of the Sierra.

No information on the current condition of the injured.  No other individuals were in the affected vehicles.
