3 displaced after heavy fire damages home; firefighter treated for minor injuries
LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – Three people are displaced after a heavy house fire in Lexington, according to Battalion Chief Derek Roberts with the Lexington Fire Department.
Fire crews were sent to a home in the 4600 block of Fitzroy Court for a reported structure fire. Roberts said firefighters arrived to find heavy flames showing from the home, prompting crews to upgrade the call to a working structure fire.
According to the fire department, crews encountered heavy fire conditions throughout the house but were able to bring the flames under control. Firefighters are now continuing to put out hot spots at the scene.
One firefighter suffered minor injuries and was treated on scene. Officials say no other injuries were reported.
Two nearby homes also suffered heat damage to exterior siding, but crews were able to prevent the fire from spreading further.
Roberts said three people were displaced by the fire. A fire investigator remains on scene working to determine the origin and cause.
