3 arrested on child endangerment charges
LONDON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Three people were arrested in Laurel Co. after deputies say they responded to a domestic dispute call, and found a toddler in a home without adequate heat, water, or food.
The Laurel Co. Sheriff says his office received the call around 6:50 a.m. on Saturday morning. When deputies arrived at the home on Old Richmond Road, they say they found a man with visible injuries on his back and face. While investigating, deputies also found a four-year-old boy laying in a bed soaked with urine. They also found the home had only one space heater inside. Deputies say the temperature inside the home was about 35°, and they could see their own breath. The home also had no running water and no food. The child, according to investigators, told them he had not eaten since the day before.
30-year-old Hallie Simpson was arrested on charges of domestic violence and endangering the welfare of a minor. The man, 34-year-old Jonathan Gross, was also arrested for endangering the welfare of a minor, along with disorderly conduct. The child’s grandmother, 66-year-old Charolett Simpson was arrested on endangerment charges, as well.
The child was turned over to social services.
