Kentucky wins 4th straight but it was costly

LEXINGTON, Ky.  (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – The Kentucky Wildcats picked up their fourth straight conference win with an 85–80 victory over Texas at Rupp Arena, but the win came at a cost. Sophomore guard Kam Williams suffered a broken foot and is expected to miss significant time.

Williams joins a growing list of injured Wildcats. Point guard Jaland Lowe is out for the remainder of the season following shoulder surgery, while 6-foot-10 center Jayden Quaintance has missed the last four games with a knee injury.

Despite battling the flu and missing practice the past few days, Collin Chandler turned in his best performance of the season. Chandler sat out Wednesday morning’s shoot-around but still finished with 18 points and tied for the team lead with seven rebounds.

Kentucky received 27 points from its bench and went 30-of-35 from the free-throw line. The Wildcats will return to action Saturday at noon, hosting Ole Miss at Rupp Arena.
