Florence man charged with assault after fabricating robbery story
FLORENCE, Ky. (WTVQ) – Police in Florence say a man has been charged with domestic violence after reportedly making up a robbery story to explain injuries his wife received.
Officers say on March 29th they went to St. Elizabeth Florence to check on a woman in the emergency room receiving treatment for injuries.
When they arrived, the say the woman and her husband told them she had received the injuries during a robbery. A release from the Florence Police Department says the two claimed she had been walking alone in a Walmart parking lot when a man assaulted her and took money and some phones from her. Investigators say, though, that they discovered that there wasn’t any robbery at the location. Police say the husband and wife both later recanted their statements. Both were charged for falsely reporting an incident.
Then, on Thursday, police say follow-up interviews with the two resulted in a confession that the woman’s injuries were the result of a domestic assault by the husband at their home on Shenandoah Drive.
20-year-old Joshua Robison was charged with assault in the case, and taken to the Boone County Detention Center.
