206 suspects arrested during “Operation Summer Heat”

FRANKFORT, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — More than 200 suspected drug dealers are now off the streets following a comprehensive drug sting operation conducted by the Kentucky State Police (KSP).

KSP announced that all 16 of their posts across the state participated in “Operation Summer Heat,” a three-month investigation targeting suspected drug trafficking rings. This effort culminated in the arrest of 206 suspects.

The operation resulted in the seizure of various illegal drugs, including fentanyl, cocaine, meth, heroin, and spice, with a combined street value of nearly $685,000.

“This was an opportunity to remove deadly narcotics from our local communities and the money that drives this criminal activity, as well as other crimes,” said KSP Commissioner Phillip Burnett, Jr. “Kentuckians and those targeted areas can sleep a little better tonight, knowing that these drug dealers have been removed from our communities and will now face prosecution.”

In addition to the narcotics, state police also recovered 14 guns and a stolen car during the operation. KSP stated that the investigation is ongoing and more arrests are expected.
