KY State Fair announces military Sunday by AppHarvest

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WTVQ/RELEASE) — The Kentucky State Fair has announced Sunday, Aug. 22 is Military Sunday sponsored by AppHarvest. Active and retired veterans who present their military ID will receive free admission for themselves and up to three family members. Parking is not included.

Military Sunday Sponsored by AppHarvest activities include:

  • A special ceremony honoring the military will be held during the 8 p.m. concert starring the Oak Ridge Boys with special guest T. Graham Brown. The ceremony will feature the presentation of colors, the national anthem sung by ‘American Idol’ star Alex Miller, guest speakers and Kentucky’s own 2000 Miss America Heather French Henry as emcee.
  • Kentucky Remembers WWII educational exhibit located in South Wing is a 10,000 square foot exhibit in honor of Kentucky’s soldiers that offers fairgoers an opportunity to see the courage and sacrifice of our veterans.

The 46th consecutive appearance for the Oak Ridge Boys at the Kentucky State Fair is the longest running consecutive musical performing act of entertainment history in the United States. The group has scored 12 gold, three platinum and one double platinum album; earned Grammy, Country Music Association and Academy of Country Music Awards; and were inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame as a group in 2015.
