FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ/Press Release) – Castle & Key Distillery has been recognized as Kentucky Distillers’ Association’s 15th Heritage-level member, which is the highest rank for distilleries that age more than 50,000 barrels a year.
“We’re thrilled to be joining the KDA and will be seeking a spot soon on the Kentucky Bourbon Trail Craft Tour,” says Will Arvin, Castle & Key’s Co-Founder. “We’ve appreciated the leadership of the association’s President, Eric Gregory, and his team at the KDA in championing Kentucky’s signature industry around the world, and we look forward to working alongside all other members of the organization.”
Founded in 1880, the KDA serves as an advocate and support to Kentucky’s Bourbon and spirits industries.
Castle & Key is a historic distillery that was purchased in 2014 by Arvin and Wes Murry. The distillery strives to reimagine the Kentucky spirits industry through innovation by emphasizing quality over quantity through limited seasonal releases.
Castle & Key’s most recent releases include the Sacred Spring Vodka, Roots of Ruin Gin and Restoration Rye.
In 2014, Castle & Key Founding Partners Will Arvin and Wes Murry, two industry outsiders, purchased and began restoring The Old Taylor Distillery, which had fallen to ruin after decades of neglect, with a vision of creating an immersive distillery experience.
Castle & Key is now committed to identifying the best barrels for production each year, which leads to producing quality spirits that have a different flavor profile each year.
In 2021, Will Arvin and his family have assumed full ownership of Castle & Key. Located at 4445 McCracken Pike, Frankfort, Castle & Key has become a popular travel destination for spirits and history enthusiasts as it offers tours of the many historical parts of the property including, the Boiler Room, Taylorton Station, Counter 17, the Springhouse, and the Botanical Trail.
Castle & Key Distillery’s grounds are now open for guests on a limited basis and requires a reservation to visit the property. This step is being taken to ensure social distancing guidelines can be met and reservations will become available 7 days in advance. To make a reservation see here.
