Missing person case turns into swift-water rescue


LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – A missing person case turned into a swift-water rescue Thursday night for the London-Laurel Rescue Squad.

The woman was reported missing at about 8 p.m. in the area of 1312 American Greeting Card Road north of Corbin. The area is on the banks of Horse Creek which was rain-swollen from heavy rains during the day Thursday and into Thursday evening.

After the missing women’s shoes and sweater were found on the bank of the creek, the Rescue Squad deployed a search team on the ground in the area and launched a boat team to search the creek.

The person was found about a quarter mile downstream on the creek bank and turned over to EMS in stable condition, the Rescue Squad said.

Also responding were Laurel County Sheriff’s Office and Ambulance Inc. of Laurel County.
