State’s COVID positivity rate ticks back up slightly

FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ) –  The state’s COVID positivity rate rose slightly Monday after being below 1.8% last week.

According to the state’s Monday COVID report, the rate was 1.87%, but the state recorded only 69 new cases with 11 of those in people 18 or younger.

Gov. Andy Beshear reminded Kentuckians that Wednesday, June 30 is the deadline to register for the first #ShotataMillion vaccination drawing at ShotataMillion.ky.gov.

The state still has no ‘red’ counties but now has nine in the ‘orange’ category. That’s up from a low of four last week.

Most counties are still in yellow although the number in “green’ continues to grow.

The state reported two new coronavirus-related deaths, bringing Kentucky’s total death toll since the pandemic to 7,212.

Of the total cases, the state said 169 people are in the hospital, 53 are in ICU, and 25 are still on a ventilator.
