Two people killed, three injured in Todd County crash

GUTHRIE, Ky. (WTVQ) – Two people were killed and three injured in a three vehicle crash on US 79 near Guthrie in Todd County on Friday afternoon, according to Kentucky State Police.

Investigators say 72-year old Mark Stoltzfus, of Franklin, Kentucky, was driving a 2018 Dodge Ram 5500 commercial vehicle south on US 79 when he ran into the rear of a 2015 Nissan car that was stopped to make a left-hand turn onto KY 848.  KSP says the Dodge truck continued into the northbound lane and collided head-on with a 2015 Toyota Highlander.

The driver of the Toyota, 51-year old Susan Merrill, of Clarksville, Tennessee and her backseat passenger, 13-year old Gavin Merrill, of Ocala, Florida, both died at the scene.

State Police say 24-year old Matthew Merrill, of Clarksville, Tennessee, was airlifted to Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee.

Investigators say 63-year old David Merrill, of Clarksville, Tennessee and the driver of the Nissan, Dora Vega, were both taken to Tennova Medical Center in Clarksville, Tennessee.
