WOOLUM, Ky. (WTVQ) – A 63-year-old Knox County man has been charged with first-degree assault and evidence tampering for allegedly stabbing his neighbor during a fight early Wednesday morning.
According to the Kentucky State Police, troopers in Harlan received a call from Knox County Sheriff’s Office requesting assistance at a stabbing on Spruce Pine Road in the Woolum Community of Knox County at about 2 a.m.
Troopers’ initial investigation indicates Kenneth Johnson, of Woolum, drove his side-by-side ATV to his neighbor’s house, where a verbal altercation took place on the back steps of the victim’s home.
The victim was stabbed by Johnson, who left the scene, according to the KSP. The victim’s wife called 911 and the victim was air lifted to UK Medical Center with life-threatening injuries, the KSP said.
KSP arrested Johnson.
KSP Detective Jake Wilson is continuing the investigation. Also assisted at the scene were Tpr. Sammy Faris and Knox County Sheriff’s Department.
