Area residents named to Juvenile Justice, Geologists, School Facilities boards

FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ) – Gov. Andy Beshear has made the following appointments to Kentucky boards and commissions:

— Appointed the Honorable Acena Beck of Covington to the office of Circuit Judge for the 16th Judicial Circuit, Family Division 5, of Kentucky.

— Appointed the Honorable Paul Craft of Russell to the office of District Judge for the 20th Judicial District of Kentucky.

— Appointed the Honorable Mark Medlin of Kevil to the office of District Judge for the 59th Judicial District of Kentucky.

— Appointed the Honorable Kevin Bishop of Mayfield to the office of Circuit Judge for the 52nd Judicial Circuit of Kentucky.

— Appointed Christopher Sizemore as City Commissioner for the City of California, Kentucky.

— Appointed Butch Bradley, Jay Simmons, Kenneth Hurt and Erika Mehta as members of the West Kentucky Community & Technical College Board of Directors.

  • Butch Bradley of Paducah is an attorney at Grumley, Riley, & Stewart P.S.C. He replaces Larry Kelley, whose term has expired. Mr. Bradley shall serve for a term expiring April 3, 2021.
  • Jay Simmons of Mayfield is the superintendent of the Carlisle County Board of Education. He replaces Jeff Simms, whose term has expired. Mr. Simmons shall serve for a term expiring April 3, 2021.
  • Kenneth Hurt of Paducah is a tax consultant. He replaces Dennis Lacy, who has resigned. Mr. Hurt shall serve the remainder of the unexpired term ending April 3, 2024.
  • Erika Mehta of Murray replaces Donna Pearson, who has resigned. Ms. Mehta shall serve the remainder of the unexpired term ending April 3, 2021.

— Appointed Joseph Klausing as a member of the Kentucky Rare Disease Advisory Council

  • Joseph Klausing of Louisville is an attorney at O’Bryan, Brown & Toner, PLLC. He replaces Patrick Dunegan, who has resigned. Mr. Klausing shall serve the remainder of the unexpired term ending May 13, 2023. Mr. Klausing has also been appointed as Chair.

— Appointed Toa Green, Curtis McGehee, Eric Haner, Deonte Hollowell and Yolanda Johnson as members of the Juvenile Justice Advisory Board. Gov. Beshear has also reappointed Veronica Koontz and Laura Karem.

  • Toa Green of Lexington is the owner and operator of Crank & Boom Craft Ice Cream. She replaces Paula Pedigo, whose term has expired. Ms. Green shall serve for a term expiring Sept. 15, 2024.
  • Curtis McGehee of Greenville serves as County Judge for Muhlenberg County. He replaces Rick Stiltner, whose term has expired. Judge McGehee shall serve for a term expiring Sept. 15, 2024.
  • Eric Haner of Louisville serves as a judge for the Kentucky Administrative Office of the Courts. He replaces Kimberly Shumate, who has resigned. Judge Haner shall serve the remainder of the unexpired term ending Sept. 15, 2021.
  • Deonte Hollowell of Louisville is an assistant professor at Spalding University. He replaces Rebecca DeJarnatt, who has resigned. Mr. Hollowell shall serve the remainder of the unexpired term ending Sept. 15, 2021.
  • Yolanda Johnson of West Paducah works for the Department of Corrections, Division of Reentry Services. She replaces Joan Byer, who has resigned. Ms. Johnson shall serve the remainder of the unexpired term ending Sept. 15, 2021.
  • Veronica Koontz of Mt. Sterling is the division director at the Department of Juvenile Justice. Ms. Koontz shall serve for a term expiring Sept. 15, 2024.
  • Laura Karem of Frankfort is an attorney at the Department of Public Advocacy. Ms. Karem shall serve for a term expiring Sept. 15, 2024.

— Appointed Kerry Harvey as a member of the School Facilities Construction Commission.

  • Kerry Harvey of Lexington is the Secretary of Public Protection Cabinet for the Commonwealth of Kentucky. He replaces Jonathan Brown, whose term has expired. Secretary Harvey shall serve for a term expiring Dec. 31, 2026.

— Appointed Kimberly Smith and Jerry Evans as members of the Kentucky Board of Ophthalmic Dispensers.

  • Kimberly Smith of Danville is an optometrist at the Danville Eye Center. She replaces James Luckett, whose term has expired. Dr. Smith shall serve for a term expiring Jan. 10, 2025.
  • Jerry Evans of Lebanon is retired. He replaces Ladye Adams, whose term has expired. Mr. Evans shall serve for a term expiring Jan. 10, 2025.

— Appointed Megan Cleinmark as a member of the Board of Registration for Professional Geologists.

  • Megan Cleinmark of Lexington is a professional geologist with L.E. Gregg Associates. She replaces Mark Sweet, whose term has expired. Ms. Cleinmark shall serve for a term expiring July 14, 2024.
