MENIFEE COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – Education is about to get a major new home in Menifee County.
The new Central School in Frenchburg is on target to be completed this summer. It’ll house Pre-K through eighth grades and replace the existing Botts and Menifee elementary schools.
The new $18.2 million building will cover almost 80,000-square-feet and be home to as many as 750 students. But it’ll be more than just a building.
“We have been able to do all the things that we never thought we would be able to do here. That was one of the things that I noticed when were trying to get the deal was the kids saying ‘no, we can’t have that here’ or people telling me we can’t have that here and with the help of our community and our reps and senators and all those people, we were able do this for our kids and our community,” explained Menifee School District Chief Financial Officer Lorri Bartley.
The school district may turn one of the old schools into district offices.
