PULASKI COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – A 13-year-old has been charged with assault after a school fight that video on social media helped investigators unravel.
According to the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department, deputies became aware of an assault that occurred Thursday at Southern Middle School. Shortly after, investigators and a truancy officer discovered a video circulating on social media.
Once investigators became aware of the incident, they began identifying witnesses and uncovering the circumstances surrounding the assault, the sheriff’s department said on its Facebook page.
During the investigation, deputies discovered a 13-year-old boy had punched another boy in the face in a classroom. Investigators have not said what led up to the incident.
After discovering the suspect’s identity, he was taken into custody and charged with fourth-degree assault and terroristic threatening.
The charges and documentation have been submitted to the Pulaski County Court Designated Workers for further action, the department said.
Investigators say the accused was released to his parents. The investigation is ongoing.
