FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ) – An 8-year-old Frankfort boy is determined to make shelter pets, the official pets of the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
Ethan Branscum says he wants to bring attention to shelter pets.
He saw Ohio made its official state pet, shelter pets, so he thought Kentucky should do the same.
Because of the pandemic, Branscum isn’t at the State Capitol pushing the bill as he did last year, so he’s asking for your help.
“We can’t do this alone. We can’t help shelter pets alone,” Branscum said.
Todd Blevins with the Humane Society of the United States has been discussing the bill with Kentucky representatives to help find a sponsor.
Branscum created a petition for those who want to help. If you’re interested in taking part click here.
