UPDATE: Suspect in Friday shooting nabbed in Florida

FLORENCE, Ky. (WTVQ) – An 18-year-old man suspected in a fatal shooting last week in Florence has been nabbed in Florida.

According to Florence Police, 18-year-old Robert A. Pence, of Taylor Mill, Ky., was arrested in St. Petersburg, Fla., after he was developed as a suspect by Florence investigators. He is charged with murder and three counts of first-degree wanton endangerment.

Pence is lodged in Pinellas County, Fla., Jail awaiting extradition to Kentucky.

Florence investigators paid tribute to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, the Boone County Sheriff’s Office and the Taylor Mill Police Department for their assistance.

FLORENCE, Ky. (WTVQ)  – Florence Police investigators say the death of a 22-year-old man Friday afternoon likely was a homicide.

Daniel D. Darden, of Florence, died at a St. Elizabeth Hospital in Florence after suffering gunshot wounds in the parking lot at Walnut Creek Apartments, police said.

Officers responded to a shots-fired call in the apartment parking lot at about 2:50 p.m. and found Darden.

The Florence Police Department is investigating this as a murder scene, officers said in a statement.
