2021 MLK community service activity in Mt. Sterling
MT. STERLING, Ky. (WTVQ) – Mt. Sterling officials are planning a ‘Care Like King’ community service activity for Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
According to organizers, the MLK community service activities for DuBois Community Center are to enhance students’ educational at-home environment. To help, the DuBois Education Committee is making desks for students enrolled in the program and others who on request.

Organizers say some students are doing school work in their bed and the desks are needed to help make their environment feel more like a classroom.

Organizers also said they made snack packs for the Windsor Care Nursing Home and will be participating in the MLK Unity March on Sunday. Their theme this year is March On Mask Up!

The group is also encouring individuals to take on volunteer projects like picking up trash downtown, at parks and in their neighborhoods and to give to non profit organizations.
The annual Martin Luther King, Jr. March is set for Sunday, Jan. 17 starting at 2 P.M. at the Courthouse downtown. Those participating may park along Court Street, Broadway, or in City Lot #2 (behind the Bell House).
City Hall will be closed in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Monday, January 18 and will reopen on Tuesday, January 19 at 9 A.M.
