LONDON, Ky. (WTVQ) – London firefighters, Kentucky state troopers and volunteers spread holiday cheer Saturday.
And Santa Claus made an early stop in the community for the Brown Bag Giveaway.
Santa and his helpers handed out bags filled with all kinds of goodies. It was a way to give back to the community and help kids and families who have been stressed emotionally and financially by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
Seeing the smiles on children’s faces was an unexpected reward for the volunteers.
“It absolutely means everything. That’s what we’re here for, just help others and make their day happy,” said Patty Gooden, one of those who volunteers for the event.
“That’s the best feeling you could ever have is little kids smile, the little we give them that makes it all worthwhile, all the hard work,” added firefighter David King.
Firefighters and troopers changed the traditional event with Santa to a drive-thru for coronavirus safety.
