CAMPBELLSBURG, Ky. (WTVQ) – One man is injured and one is in jail following a road-rage shooting on I-71.
According to the the Kentucky State Police, troopers received a 911 call in reference to a shooting on Interstate 71 near the 38-mile marker Sunday.
The caller reported that his passenger had been shot multiple times by a person in a separate vehicle. The caller was able to give a vehicle description as well as registration plate information, the KSP said.
The vehicle was located on Interstate 75 by Boone County Sheriff’s deputies. The preliminary investigation found the shooting stemmed from a road rage incident prior to the shooting, troopers said.
The victim was transported to the University of Louisville Hospital. The suspect, 22-year-old Dammien Shammond Peterson, of Columbus, Ohio, was arrested and charged with first-degree assault and first-degree wanton endangerment.
The investigation is ongoing by Kentucky State Police Post 5 detectives.
