MT. VERNON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A house in Rockcastle County catches fire and is put out oncebefore burning, forcing firefighters to return a second time.
At 4:49 Saturday afternoon, Mt. Vernon firefighters were dispatched to Carter Ridge Road for the second fire in the same house in two days.
Upon arrival, Chief David Bales observed a large amount of fire coming through the roof, the department said.
Bales requested additional alarms for Mount Vernon and Livingston fire departments.
A combined two Engines, two Tankers, a ladder truck and 18 firefighters responded from the two departments.
The circumstances surrounding both of these fires have been suspicious.
Saturday night, 17,000 gallons of water were dumped on the structure to make sure it didn’t catch fire again, the department said.
