LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)Paving is continuing on Euclid Ave. this week. This milling and paving project is the final phase of the two-mile long sanitary sewer project from Oliver Lewis Way to Tates Creek Road.

In order to safely mill and pave the roadway, Euclid Ave. from S. Ashland to Woodland Ave. will be one-way toward Avenue of Champions. Drivers coming from Avenue of Champions on Euclid Ave. can turn left onto Woodland Ave., right onto Maxwell St., continue onto E. High St. and right onto S. Ashland to return to Euclid Ave.

This temporary one-way traffic change will be in effect from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m., on Tuesday, November 17, Thursday, November 19 and Friday, November 20.

The rest of Euclid Ave. will be open to two-way traffic, but there will be lane closures for paving. Avenue of Champions is now fully paved and open to regular traffic.

Drivers are reminded to drive slowly and watch for pedestrians, cyclists and construction workers, especially around lane changes, detours and crosswalks.

The project to replace the sanitary sewer began near Oliver Lewis Way and ran through the University of Kentucky Campus and down Euclid Avenue to Tates Creek Road. The original sewer was 80 years old, and many of the other utilities in the area were decades old as well. Sewer construction was completed in August, but final paving was not scheduled until construction on the other utilities was also finished.
