Before leaving the store, he bought two $30 Break Fort Knox tickets. Since he was in a rush, he simply scratched off the barcode on the tickets and scanned them to see if they were winners.

“It didn’t register with me at first. I went out of the store when it dawned on me what it (scanner) said,” he told lottery officials.

He rushed back into the store to scan the ticket again, when it confirmed he had won $100,000.

“I was ecstatic,” he said.

He eventually scratched off the ticket to see how he had won the game’s second prize. On his ticket he matched the number 30 and located below was the $100,000 prize.

The retired man told lottery officials he enjoys playing the lottery for something to do. He said he plans to share the winnings with his three sons, one of which he lives with.

“I don’t really need for anything,” he said.

“I’ve been dang lucky,” he said regarding winning the lottery, telling officials he has won the $1,000 prize six times.

Kroger will receive a $1,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.
