3 Memphis men charged after 30-mile chase in reported stolen car: KSP

MUNFORDVILLE, Ky. (WTVQ) – Three Memphis, Tenn., men riding in a suspected stole vehicle were charged Thursday night following a 30-miles chase along I-65, according to Kentucky State Police.

At about 6:40 p.m. Thursday, a trooper spotted a southbound black Chrysler 300 speeding near mile marker 93 at the Bluegrass Parkway. When the trooper tried to make a traffic stop, the car, which turned out to be reported stolen from Memphis, started to flee, according to the KSP.

The car continued southbound to the 63 mile marker where the driver lost control and crashed into a SUV drive by 71-year-old Kenny Trew, of Scottsville, Ky., the KSP said in a release.

The driver ad two passengers tried to run but were caught after short foot chases.

Trew was flown to Vanderbilt University Hospital where he is in stable condition, troopers said.

The driver, 24 year-old Rickie D. Nelson, of Memphis, has been charged with speeding 26 or more over the speed limit, assault 1st degree, fleeing or evading police 1st degree (motor vehicle), fleeing or evading police 1st degree (on foot),wanton endangerment 1st degree, wanton endangerment 1st degree (police officer), criminal mischief 1st degree, DUI 1st, resisting arrest, possession of burglary tools, operating on suspended license, and receiving stolen property $10,000 or more.

A passenger, 22 year-old Martavious D. Williams, of Memphis, has been charged with fleeing or evading police1st degree (on foot), receiving stolen property $10,000 or more, resisting arrest, possession of burglary tools, and wanton endangerment 1st degree (police officer).

The second passenger, 24 year-old Kevin Wynn, of Memphis, has been charged with possession of a handgun by convicted felon, fleeing or evading police 1st degree (on foot), receiving stolen property $10,000 or more, resisting arrest, and possession of burglary tools.
