FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ) – Kentucky bars and restaurants that have been screaming for some extra time under the coronavirus guidelines got their wish Tuesday.
Gov. Andy Beshear announced the businesses can now serve until 11 p.m. instead of 10 and close at 12 instead of 11 p.m. The new rules are effective immediately.
The governor said the chances are in deference to sporting events lasting later and to the work businesses have demonstrated in trying to abide by the state guidelines.
When asked why continue having the curfew, Beshear admitted he and leaders in other states continue to analyze and struggle with the best times and processes.
“The White House wants us close bars in many places because of the numbers there, they want us to limit capacity to 25 percent. We are trying to find the right zone…to get people i ad out and still i a place where they ca be abiding by the rules,” Beshear said.
“It is an imperfect science for sure,” he added.
