FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ) – According to Secretary of State Michael Adams, new voter registration is down 90% from this time last summer.
In hopes of changing that his office is coming up with unique ways to give people the opportunity to get registered.
“We have a display, a drive-thru window essentially. We’ve got registration kits. We’re going to try to make up that gap,” said Adams about some of the unique plans.
The deadline to get registered to vote is October 5. That means there is less than a month to get more people registered. Adams says it’s been difficult for groups to host registration events because of the pandemic.
“There’s been a ninety percent drop in registration. That’s because organizations can’t do registration drives. We’re trying to step up and do our part,” said Adams.
