Lane closures on Clay, Laurel, Whitley roads this week

CLAY/LAUREL/WHITLEY COUNTIES, Ky. (WTVQ) – Bridge inspection work will cause lane closures on roads in Laurel and Whitley counties this week. And paving will cause delays on a Clay County road.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet plans to have a road closure on Old Highway 25 off U.S. 25 at mile point 4.311 in Laurel County on Tuesday, Aug. 18 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The road closure is necessary due to District 11 crews conducting a bridge inspection.

KYTC asks motorists to be aware of the work zone, expect delays, and to utilize safe driving habits when traveling through the area.

Also, according to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, a lane closure on KY 92E at mile point 21.6 in Whitley County is scheduled Wednesday, Aug. 19 and Thursday, Aug. 20 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.

The lane closure is necessary due to District 11 crews conducting a bridge inspection at the Whitley County overhead truss bridge on KY 92E.

KYTC asks motorists to be aware of the work zone, expect delays, and to utilize safe driving habits when traveling through the area.

In Clay County, crews will start an asphalt resurfacing project Thursday, Aug. 20 on a three-mile stretch of KY 2000 between mile points 6 and 9.

The section of roadway will be closed Thursday, Aug. 20, and Friday, Aug. 21 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day.
