Lexington car crash sends boat into street, blocking traffic


LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)- A Lexington car crash sent a boat into the street and blocked traffic Thursday night near the Jif plant.

Police say before 7 p.m. a truck hauling a boat was going inbound on Winchester Road near Midland Avenue. A black Hyundai was going outbound when it crossed a lane and hit the boat.

Officers say the Hyundai’s driver went to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries and is suspected of driving under the influence.

An earlier crash downtown also sent someone to the hospital.

Police say that crash happened around 5:30 p.m. on Upper Street and West Third Street and ended up with a van turned on its side.
