LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ/UK Public Affairs) — University of Kentucky students need to make an appointment to move in in August and bring a couple of strong backs.
Like everything else, move-in will be different according to new rules sent out by the university Thursday. And one big change is a limit on two guests to help with the moving.
UK announced that residence hall Fall Move-In is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 8, through Sunday, Aug. 16. UK classes will begin Monday, Aug. 17.
In order to implement social distancing, all students will be required to select a move-in appointment — a recommended “window” of time for arriving at the unloading area during Fall Move-In. The purpose is to spread out the arrivals throughout the day and encourage social distancing.
Students with room assignments are currently able to select a move-in appointment time.
Follow these steps to schedule Fall Move-In appointment:
- Log in to myUK.
- Go to housing portal.
- Select My Forms.
- Complete required forms and select Move-In Appointment.
Students will only see dates and times that are available based on the residence hall, Living Learning Program and any other pertinent group or organization — if applicable.
Students can find more information about move-in tips and appointments here.
Due to COVID-19, students will be limited to two guests to assist during the move-in process. This restriction is necessary to ensure the safety and well-being of everyone during UK Campus Housing Fall Move-in.
The university’s goal is to have all first-time, first-year students moved into their respective residence halls before K Week begins on the evening of Thursday, Aug. 13.
