Heat may have sparked railroad ties fire


LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)- Railroad ties piled along the tracks near Angliana Avenue caught fire Wednesday afternoon.

The fire was reported shortly after 1 p.m., at 475 Angliana.

The Lexington Fire Department and R.J. Corman Railroad said the heat may have sparked the fire. It happens occasionally, firefighters said.

No one was evacuated but residents of some nearby apartments were advised not to run their air conditioning to avoid sucking the smoke into their apartment.
