MADISON COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Richmond Fire Department says a mulch fire, that began burning on Sunday, was finally fully contained late Tuesday afternoon.
The fire was along I-75 near EXIT 97 near the Fayette-Madison County line. Several fire departments fought the fire and closely monitored it over the three-day period.
Kentucky State Police warned motorists driving along that stretch of the interstate on Monday to beware of reduced visibility at times due to heavy smoke from the fire.
Firefighters say even though the fire is fully contained, smoke may linger in the area.
