MUHLENBERG COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ/KSP) – A 67-year-old Henderson, Ky., man faces numerous charges after fleeing from state troopers Monday night.
According to the Kentucky State Police, Esmaiel Shaikhood is charged with first-degree fleeing, reckless driving, and numerous other offenses.
Trooper Justin Cornett observed a white Ford pickup traveling westbound on KY70 with the incorrect registration plate. But when Cornett tried to stop the truck just before 7 p.m., it accelerated and began to flee, the KSP said in a release.
The pursuit continued for several miles, entering Hopkins County and Mclean County before reentering Muhlenberg County. The driver, identified as Shaikhood, merged onto the Western Kentucky Parkway in Greenville, where KSP successfully deployed a tire deflation device, according to the release.
The truck came to a stop in the median near the 45 mile marker, where driver tried to run. Cornett and Greenville Police Officer Kaleb Rolley caught him after a brief foot pursuit, the KSP said.
