LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Crank and Boom, Lexington’s craft ice cream maker, is launching the third in its line of specialty ice creams paying tribute to the names and faces that are part of Go. Andy Beshear’s daily coronavirus briefings.
The new flavor honors “Kenneth,” the slide technicain who is never seen during the briefings but plays an integral role in showing the slides to which Beshear often refers.
Crank and Boom already have released flavors “Andy” and “Virginia,” for the sign language expert.
Pre-ordering for the next flavor ends at 11:59 p.m. April 16.
The ‘Kenneth” ice cream is described as the quintessential boozy milkshake cocktail in ice cream form. Rich and creamy with flavors of Kahlua coffee liqueur and Bailey’s Irish cream. And we’ve also swirled dark chocolate bombe sauce throughout, Crank and Boom wrote.
$2 from the sale of each pint will benefit GLEAN KENTUCKY, which gathers excess fresh fruits and vegetables from farms, groceries, markets and gardens and distributes the produce to over 100 feeding agencies across Central Kentucky to nourish people in need.
Glean Kentucky is on track to rescue itsr two millionth pound of fresh produce later this year.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Glean Kentucky has stepped to redistribute raw ingredients from local restaurants and deliver meals to Fayette County Public School students and their families. None of this work would be possible without the support of hundreds of volunteer gleaners who work hard every day to reduce food waste and food insecurity.
