HARLAN COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – A Harlan County man is charged with more than two dozen counts related to child sexual abuse, according to Kentucky State Police.
Tuesday evening, 38-year-old Scotty Ward, of Wallins, was arrested following a search of his home. He remains in the Harlan County Detention Center. No bond had been set as of Wednesday morning.
The investigation began after the KSP’s Electronic Crime Branch discovered Ward sharing images of child exploitation online, the KSP said in a press release.
During Tuesday’s search, investigators confiscated computers and other equipment possibly related to the charges. The KSP’s forensic lab is analyzing that evidence, the KSP said.
Ward is charged with 20 counts of possessing or viewing matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor, and five counts of first offense distribution of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor. Both are Class D felonies.
Ward was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center.
