State hiring more social workers to fight child abuse


FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ) – Kentucky is hiring hundreds of social workers to fight child abuse, according to the state.

The plan is to add 350 more staff to help lighten the caseload of social workers, according to officials.

According to the Department of Child Services, social workers’ average caseload in Kentucky is around 30, with some as high as 80. The national recommended average is 15-18 cases per social worker.
