MIDDLESBORO, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Bell County Health Department is offering free Tdap booster shots for flood victims to protect them from tetanus, pertussis and diphtheria.
Health experts say bacteria that can cause tetanus is found in dirt, rust and muddy water. It can enter your body through any open wound, scratch or cut.
Symptoms include muscle stiffness, soreness, body aches and fever.
People need to protect themselves during flood cleanup.
The free shots will be available during the health department’s normal business hours, Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
