LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – Officials with Daniel Boone National Forest in London are telling people to stop dumping their trash there.
Officials say in addition to vandalism, there are illegal trash dumps all over the forest.
They say the trash includes everything from household items to discarded furniture, hot water heaters and old rusty vehicles. They say the dumping often occurs over a cliff or at the end of a remote roadway, and sometimes trash is dumped along roads in plain sight.
Officials want to remind people that more than a million visitors come to the forest each year to enjoy outdoor recreation and the scenic beauty of nature, but trash spoils the natural beauty of the treasured land.
They encourage residents to say something if they see something.
