BEREA, Ky. (WTVQ) – Detectives say a general manager stole nearly $70,000 from a well-known business in Madison County.
Berea Police say Boone Tavern contacted officers to report $69,000 missing from the business.
Investigators say they determined James Smock stole the money from daily deposits and from the in-store bank. They say Smock refused to speak to investigators, so police issued an arrest warrant.
He was arrested in Lexington and lodged in the Fayette County Detention Center.
Police say Smock is charged with unlawful theft by taking.
