UPDATE: Homeless man froze to death sleeping outside


LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Police say the cold weather caused the death of a homeless man who was found Friday morning.

Lexington Police say they were sent in response to a report of a man, 59-year-old Jerry W. Johnson, seen sleeping under the I-75 overpass on Winchester Road around 8:00 a.m.

The Fayette County Coroner’s Office says Johnson died of environmental exposure-hypothermia.

Wind chills were in the single-digits overnight into Friday morning.
