BREATHITT COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – The entire Breathitt County Sheriff’s Department staff was laid off Thursday, according to Sheriff John Hollan.
He says there’s a budget issue and the department has run out of money.
The sheriff posted a letter on Facebook Thursday afternoon about the situation.
The letter says all office personnel, deputies and court security will be relieved of their duties effective immediately because the department cannot afford to pay them, or even pay for gas for department vehicles.
Hollan says he will continue to be available 24 hours a day to serve the people.
