LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Health officials say an infant is Lexington’s third flu-related death this season.
The Lexington-Fayette County Health Department confirmed the death Tuesday. This is the first pediatric flu-related death this season. The previous two deaths were people older than 50 with underlying health issues.
Health officials want to remind people that a seasonal flu shot is the best way to fight the flu and the shot is especially important for senior adults, young children and anyone with other medical risks.
Flu shots are available at the Public Health Clinic (650 Newtown Pike) without an appointment: 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Friday, and 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Wednesday. The cost varies based on insurance – call 859-288-2483 for details.
