UPDATE: Road reopens after propane truck spill in Lincoln County

LINCOLN COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – A Lincoln County highway was temporarily closed after tanker truck carrying liquid propane overturned Tuesday morning.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says the spill happened on Kentucky Highway 643. The highway was closed in both directions.

State officials say approximately 100 gallons of liquid propane spilled.

A HAZMAT crew was called-in to clean up the site along with the Lincoln County Fire Department, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, and Kentucky State Police.

According to state officials, there were no evacuations in the area as a result of the spill. People were told to avoid the area.

An investigation is underway to determine why the tanker crashed.  The driver was taken to an area hospital, according to investigators.
