LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)-Women and men gathered Sunday at Lexington’s dowtown courthouse to march for women’s rights.
Marchers said it is important to remind elected officials of their duty to the people that voted for them.
Marcher Katelyn Burford said not even Sunday’s rain could stop her from making her voice heard.
“This was more important than the weather. Standing up for people’s rights is more important that the weather, she says, “People have endured worse in the face of oppression,” she added.
Several speakers addressed the crowd before the march, including state representative Attica Scott.
She and others encouraged women to run for public offices and continue to stand up for equality.
