City officials and local leaders gathered Thursday morning to make the announcement.

The extended name for Rupp still honors the legendary UK basketball program, led by Coach Adolph Rupp from 1930 to 1972.

“Mitch has never wavered from the beginning. He said Rupp Arena will always be a part of the name where UK Basketball plays as long as he’s in charge so to know for the next several years Rupp Arena will be part of the Central Bank partnership is very meaningful to us,” says Chip Rupp, Adolph Rupp’s grandson.

The agreement is between Central Bank and JMI Sports, UK Athletics mulitmedia partner.

City officials say the 14 year contract means an annual average investment of $4.1 million.

Upon completion of the renovation, the portion of this investment associated with naming rights will be $1.5 million, according to officials.
