UPDATE: Escapee from Marshall County has been caught

BENTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – An inmate who escaped from Marshall County on Monday afternoon has been caught.

Marshall County Sheriff’s Office says at 8:00 p.m. Monday, a report came in of a stolen vehicle not far from where 40-year-old Robert W. Fritz was last seen. This morning, deputies say OnStar equipped in the vehicle reported the vehicle may be located at a rest area off I-64 in Shelby County.

Shortly after 9:00 a.m. Tuesday, deputies say Fritz was found sitting in the stolen vehicle. They say he was taken into custody without further incident.

Fritz is facing several charges, including escape.

BENTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Kentucky State Police are searching for an inmate who escaped from Marshall County on Monday.

Investigators say at 12:40 p.m., 40-year-old Robert W. Fritz, of Louisville, walked away from a work release program at the Marshall County Animal Shelter.

Troopers say Fritz was last seen wearing blue jeans, red shoes and a red shirt. They say Frits could be traveling in a white Dodge pickup truck with a camper tip.
