FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ) – The FBI is asking questions about the controversial pardons former Governor Matt Bevin issued as he was leaving office, according to The Courier Journal.
The newspaper reports Rep. Chris Harris, a Democrat from Forest Hills, told reporters he was contacted by a criminal investigator who asked him what he knew about Bevin’s pardons.
According to the newspaper, Harris didn’t say what questions were asked or who contacted him. The report says Harris could only confirm that he had been contacted about the pardons.
The newspaper reports an FBI spokeswoman says she could not “confirm nor deny the existence of said investigation.”
Many of the pardons have been ridiculed by leaders across the state and country.
