PARIS, Ky. (WTVQ) – A boil water advisory is in effect for some water customers in Paris and Millersburg.

The City of Paris has issued the boil water advisory for customers on the City of Paris water system. Kentucky American Water customers who live in Millersburg are also under a boil water advisory. Kentucky American Water says that’s because it purchases water from the City of Paris for its Millersburg customer.

The City of Paris says the advisory was issued because of a failure in the main intake pump. The city says the water is cloudy, which indicates the possible presence of disease-causing organisms in the water system.

Officials say these organisms include bacteria, viruses, and parasites, which can cause symptoms such as nausea, cramps, diarrhea and headaches.

The city advises residents to boil tap water for three minutes if they intend to use the water for consumption.
